Brian Tegtmeyer, ENP Coordinator National 9-1-1 Program, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS)
Brian Tegtmeyer serves as the National 9-1-1 Program Coordinator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of EMS (OEMS). With over 28 years of experience in public safety communications at local, state, and national levels, Brian has a rich background in the field. He began his career as a dispatcher at an Illinois police department and has since held various leadership roles in 9-1-1 systems. Notably, he managed an Illinois 9-1-1 center that served 44 agencies and a population of over 850,000 citizens. Brian has also been a national educator for more than a decade, teaching public safety telecommunicator courses. He is an active member of multiple public safety organizations and has participated in various Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforces (TERT). Driven by the evolving landscape of emergency communications, Brian aims to continually advance 9-1-1 services across the U.S. His focus areas include improving 9-1-1's impact on highway safety, fostering collaboration with stakeholders, connecting systems nationwide, and creating and sharing valuable resources. Through these efforts, the National 9-1-1 Program strives to enhance 9-1-1 services for communities across the nation, ensuring they are better equipped to handle emergencies and save lives.
